Intersport Elverys Reveal the 2021 Mayo Home Jersey

Intersport Elverys together with O’Neills, Mayo GAA, and Mayo LGFA, have today revealed the new home jersey which will be worn by all Mayo Intercounty footballers and hurlers for the 2021 season ahead.

The new jersey takes inspiration from the pinstripes of the 2006 home jersey. The jersey will incorporate the Intersport Elverys brand for the twenty-fourth season and reflects the long-standing commitment to Mayo as a base for Intersport Elverys national office and support of the county teams.

Speaking on the 2021 Mayo jersey reveal Patrick Rowland, CEO of Intersport Elverys, said “With so much uncertainty over the past year, it’s a great time to look to the future and reveal the brand-new Mayo jersey. Intersport Elverys is deeply embedded in GAA and it is a privilege to once again present a new kit with O’Neills which reflects on the past, but looks to the future. We remain behind the county teams as they develop and strive toward their aspirations in the coming season.”

Liam Moffatt, Mayo GAA Chairman said “we are grateful for the ongoing support of our title sponsor Intersport Elverys and look forward to the release of our new jersey which also features our new commercial partner Portwest. Portwest is the fastest growing workwear company in the world, based in Mayo. Our partnership with Intersport Elverys has developed over many years and this on-going support has been a key pillar in the highly competitive performances of our teams. Our new jersey embodies the colours synonymous with our history combined with an optimism for the future. Mayo’s loyal supporters have been instrumental over the years as our “16th man” and we, in Mayo GAA, are sincerely indebted for this support as we look forward to the season ahead.”

Mayo LGFA Chairperson, Des Phillips, commented “Once again Mayo Ladies are delighted to come together with the Men’s to launch this jersey with our title sponsor Intersport Elverys who have supported us for the past number of years. We are also boosted by the exciting news that Portwest have just come on board as a secondary sponsor and will feature on the new Mayo LGFA jersey. It is positive to have two great Mayo-based businesses backing Mayo LGFA at this time. We’re thankful to all our supporters, including our sponsors, who are as passionate about the sport as we are.“

The newly-launched jersey is available from Wednesday 5th May exclusively through Elverys.ie until stores across the country re-open. The jersey will remain exclusive to Intersport Elverys for the first 3 weeks after stores re-open. The jersey will also be available from 5th May at oneills.com.

How To Choose The Right Workout For Your Fitness Goals | Intersport Elverys

Wherever training takes you, your squad is always there to inspire and support you. When you think you’ve reached your limit, your squad is there to push you through that last rep.

And we are here for you too, to guide you and give you access to all the latest styles and innovation from the world’s best sports brands including Nike, adidas, Puma, Underarmour and more.

Have you been training recently or looking to start but are unsure what the most effective workout is for your goals? We’re often asked this by our customers and  we would like to give you a run through of the different workouts you can choose to suit your fitness goals. Not only the type of workout that is right for you but more importantly why these workouts are recommended for varying fitness goals.

The key question to ask yourself is, what is your goal when engaging in some form of physical exercise? Be that for your chosen sport or hobby and to simply recognise the importance and the benefits associated with exercise whatever your level may be.

Secondly, having identified the above, to also recognise the fact during these challenging times many of your friends, gyms and online training communities have now developed ways for you to engage in some form of training. With our help, and the equipment we offer you can be safe in the knowledge that you don’t have to train alone and you can begin or continue to strive towards your individualised goals.

Many online communities are now offering ways for both the general population and athletes alike to strive towards their goals, structured by the intensity of the workout or training regimes. With many of the facilities, training pitches and many more exercise outlets now closed, people are lacking the exposure to much of the equipment necessary for many forms of training. Gym equipment can prove to be massively beneficial for many workouts, from resistance training, to cardio based training or training involving forms of strength and flexibility, such as yoga and pilates.

Whatever your workout may be, we provide the equipment needed, big and small for these forms of exercise. This combined with advice and workouts from ourselves and professionals online, we can work together to help you get through these tough times and continue along the road to reaching your goals.

You can avail of some of our home workouts here Full Body Workout Using Bodyweight Exercises , Full Body Workout At Home With Dumbbells , HIIT Workout To Try At Home How To Get The Best Cardio Workout At Home

Products like resistance bands, mats, kettlebells and more can really help intensify your workouts at home. With that in mind some of the bigger equipment like exercise bikes, treadmills, rowers and cross trainers, from brands like NordicTrack & Proform, are a life saver for anyone who is really missing the gym. It’s never been a better time to work on your home gym set up.

You can view our range of home gym equipment HERE.

Before delving into the specifics of training and its many forms it is important for you to step back and assess what exactly you would like to achieve and ask yourself where you would like to make your gains. Frequently asked questions and issues raised are those relating to weight loss, increases in cardio fitness, toning and aspirations to increase strength and flexibility.

Different Types of Fitness

While being at home many of the above forms of online workouts will encompass all of the above with some workouts being more specific and tailored to your needs.

Strength training;

Strength training with weights, dumbbells, kettlebells and even resistance bands will involve moving your own body weight with some form of weight at a moderate intensity. Strength training is massively beneficial for weight loss. With the resistance based nature of the exercise you can begin to tone your muscles and in turn your body shape.

Cardiovascular training

Cardio training will involve exercising for a long period of time again at a moderate intensity with other forms of training such as high intensity interval training being performed over a shorter period of time. Mixing any cardio training such as walking, jogging, running or cycling with any form of strength training can really tone your muscles and your body shape. The combination of both forms and perhaps substituting the cardiovascular based training with high intensity interval training can prove to be hugely beneficial for weight loss and increases in strength and lean muscle mass.

Some of you may be looking to run or walk indoors if you have a treadmill or outdoors but unsure on which is best, there are benefits for both and you can find more information on that on our Treadmill Running Vs. Outdoor Running blog.

Strength and flexibility

Additionally, if you are looking to increase your strength and flexibility, yoga and pilates are popular and effective means of doing so. These are ideal for an individual when perhaps dealing with any health issues, be that a cardiovascular issue, any muscle issues, or something as simple as being conscious of one’s weight.

Dependent on your needs and goals, be confident in the knowledge that a mixture of all of the above will be beneficial in terms of reaching a desired outcome. Coming back to the why in this instance is essential in order to identify which level may suit you initially.

Additionally no matter what type of exercise regime you have, whether it is core sessions, jogging, swimming, training or matches, preparing your body nutritionally and physically for exercise is vital. You can learn more on that in our Preparing & Recovering Your Body blog.

Man and Women working out

So where do I start?

Still unsure what amount of exercise is appropriate for you? If so we advise you to start small, with less vigorous forms of exercise and gradually increasing this as you feel fit. With the use of some gym equipment, you can benefit hugely, again starting small and intensifying the workouts as time passes. With this in mind, remember to keep looking for relevant information, consult with knowledgeable friends and fitness professionals when starting out or continuing on your fitness journey.

Remember when starting out it is important not to become discouraged if the workout is too strenuous, just go at your own pace and ability and make use of any equipment that is available and suited to your goals.

Lastly, and most importantly, particularly during these challenging times engaging in some form of exercise, be that structured or recreational can have multiple health benefits such as reducing your stress and fatigue levels and increasing your energy and general mood. This is an essential footnote in relation to being active and making one aware that “You Never Sport Alone”.

You Never Sport Alone In latest INTERSPORT Elverys campaign

INTERSPORT Elverys connects people with sporting communities that help them stay healthy and motivated in difficult times

The campaign, which focuses on the running and training categories, is both a celebration of the role of community at the heart of sport, and a declaration from INTERSPORT Elverys on our undying commitment to provide these communities the support, motivation and gear they need to thrive.

INTERSPORT Elverys have long been aware of the role communities play at the heart of sport. We have a presence in all the cities and nearly all the major towns in Ireland and are embedded in the communities we serve.

It is this proximity to local sporting communities that allowed us to see the fundamental shifts happening in running and training. Traditionally seen as solo sports, running & training have experienced a revolution fuelled by crews, teams and gyms. They’ve effectively become team sports at the grassroots level.

In running, crews have become the beating heart of sport across the country from the big cities to the smaller towns and indeed villages and townlands. These crews organize races, host community events, fundraise and share local knowledge. The role of gym training is expanding into team sports and conversely, strength and condition training is moving into the gym. Classes, be they virtual on(or) in the gym, are now a social hub for people of all ages, abilities and interests.

Communities in both sports are endless sources of support and inspiration for their members –  through the wins and the tougher times. These close bonds, along with the brands role in supporting these communities was what the brand wanted to highlight with this campaign.

And support these communities we do. INTERSPORT Elverys staff are runners and personal trainers. They compete in various team sports. They recommend classes for those looking to get into sport and have links to local gyms and personal trainers. Over the years, we have organized and sponsored running meet-ups and charity runs.

A celebration of local sporting communities today would be incomplete without a mention of the digital tools and spaces they utilize. Digital spaces like Strava, Instagram, and WhatsApp are playing an increasingly important role in keeping sporting communities connected, motivated and up to date on the latest training techniques and gear.

We knew, to stay current, it was important to celebrate the roles of these digital spaces in the lives of sport enthusiasts and to bring the digital and physical worlds together in this campaign was a totally new approach for the brand.

Watch – #YouNeverRunAlone

In the Running film, we follow the story of 4 sets of runners competing together whilst apart in a virtual race in various locations, styles and terrains – from trail to treadmill. Through a shared connection via their digital community and enabled by INTERSPORT Elverys products, they’re able to overcome “the wall” moment of their respective races.

Watch – #YouNeverTrainAlone

Similarly, in the Training film titled “One Last Rep”, we follow the story of a training community consisting of 4 sets of training buddies who train ‘together’ – not physically, but connected by technology – to support and push each other through their various sessions and make it through that ‘last rep’ that they refuse to let defeat them.

The design and production of both films sees a morphing of real-life scenes and a digital/social aesthetic of INTERSPORT-bespoke emojis created for a modern yet familiar look and feel – sped along through animation techniques including rotoscoping, social media language overlays, and integrating social messaging gifs into the action sequences.

The “You Never Sport Alone” campaign further builds on the brand’s platform “The Heart of Sport.” “The Heart of Sport” is the result of INTERSPORT’s most comprehensive piece of international consumer research to date, with over 1,600 customers. The key finding: everyone needs a place in sport. The research reveals an unfortunate truth; 66% of people say they still haven’t found their place in sport, with 88% saying that they don’t see themselves as athletes.

This campaign comes after the successful activations last year, that helped sporting enthusiasts around the country stay active and connected during the pandemic.

As the restrictions took away the places running and training communities could come together in-person, digital spaces became a lifeline for many, connecting them to those they rely on for inspiration and support. Acting fast, INTERSPORT Elverys created a set of workouts, live Q&As and tips with their sports brand partners, brand ambassadors Bundee Aki and Rianna Jarrett and a host of other sporting organisations and individual athletes to encourage the nation to stay home but stay active.

This campaign is a celebration of what these communities can achieve together, and the role INTERSPORT Elverys play in making sure they have the product, advice and enthusiasm they need.
