Schoolbags and Size Guide for Kids | Back to School at Intersport Elverys.

Get ready, get set for Back to School at Intersport Elverys and some new schoolbags for kids.

We know Back to School shopping for schoolbags and other items for your kids can be tedious at times.

So when information on finding essentials like the right school bags are scarce, we thought we’d simplify the process.

Picking the right schoolbag for Back to School is an important choice, and the one you choose can vary depending on your child’s age and height.

Before we go through our bags on offers, we want to go through a few areas to look for when making your choice.

Check it out.

Size:

Ensure you’re getting the right size for the purpose.

Bigger is not always better, so find the right size for what your little ones will be using/putting into the bag.

Bag size is measured in litres, but standard dimensions (height x width x depth) will be available also.

Sound good?

Please note that not all bags are designed to fit binders/folders, and trying to fit these in to bags that are not suitable will stretch the fabric and possibly cause damage.

We’d recommend below 24L for primary school and above 24L for secondary, depending on age and height.

Compartments:

Multiple compartments help keep your kids organised.

Look out for backpacks with padded laptop compartments, water bottle compartments and separate front pockets.

Some bags will also come with a matching pencil case.

Material:

Depending on how/where your kids plan to use your backpack.

Most backpacks are made from Polyester or a mix of standard and recycled Polyester.

Other materials used would be lightweight, tough fibres like Nylon.

Some backpacks will also have extra padding on the back for added comfort, and can have a waterproof coating for water resistance to deal with the ever changing Irish weather.

Warranty:

Kids will be kids, remember.

Some brands will offer a warranty on their products to ensure you get good use from your bag.  This will be clearly marked on the bag’s swing tags.

Other features:

Other features that can appear on backpacks would be padded straps for extra comfort and reflective strips for added visibility.

Top Tips

To ensure the backpack you choose is the best fit for your kids, following these simple guidelines.

  1. Before using for the first time, you should adjust the straps so that the backpack fits snugly to their upper back. It should not hang out from the back, and should not hang excessively below the waist.
  2. Distribute the weight of the bag evenly across the back, by spreading the load out – you’re putting less strain on the back.
  3. Make sure they’re using both straps. Only using one puts unnecessary strain on the back and also on the backpack itself.
  4. A full backpack should be no more than 15% of the weight of the wearer.

Kids PERFECT FIT Footwear Service In-Store – Get Ready, Get Set for Back to School

Get Ready, Get Set for Back to School. At Intersport Elverys we know that footwear for your young kids should fit perfectly all year round. Our expert staff fit children’s footwear In-store and ensure your child gets the right fit AND the right shoe.

Everyone’s feet are different so here’s how we get the perfect fit.

How We Do It

We start by understanding your child’s activity level, the sports they play at school and outside of school and any injuries they may have had. We measure the length of the foot to your longest toe. Next we measure the arch length – that’s the measurement from the heel to the ball joint of the foot. Then we do it all again with the other foot. It’s common for people to have different sized feet so that’s why we always fit for the largest foot.

We help you choose the right footwear for your child’s needs. Comfort and support with just the right amount of growing room!

The perfect fit in just a few minutes. That’s the Intersport Elverys Perfect Fit Service.

Robbie Henshaw With The Midland Warriors Rugby Club

Intersport Elverys are the official retail partner of the IRFU. In a highly anticipated year for Irish rugby, we teamed up with Canterbury, and an Irish rugby international, for a memorable, rugby themed day.

In the heart of Ireland, and with Buccaneers Rugby Club as the backdrop, Moate based Midland Warriors RFC were the stars for the day. Meeting with Graham and Kate Ross, who set up Midland Warriors, Intersport Elverys and the Ross’s share a passion for local, grassroots rugby.

Along with the kids from Midland Warriors, another star was on show. Local and national rugby icon, Robbie Henshaw was on site to lend his expertise for the day.

From a pep talk to the pitch, and sporting the Official World Cup training range, Robbie took the young athletes on an exuberant training session. Flagged by coaches and spectators, the Irish centre put the Midland Warriors to work.

With adrenaline levels easing Robbie sat down with the Ross’s to chat about all things rugby. Their interchangeable rugby experiences were conversed in the stands of Buccaneer’s Rugby Club. An easy going, free flowing conversation ensued.

Their passion for rugby in their daily lives was evident when Kate and Graham described how their love of the sport led them to set up Midland Warriors.

Robbie’s passion for the sport began at a young age. His commitment to the game, like the Ross’s, has led him to be the calibre of player that he is today.

Talking about the ins and outs of everyday life in Midland Warriors, the Ross’s spoke to Robbie of what they do to grow the club in the community.

Robbie spoke about his everyday life as a professional rugby player. He described how he grows as a player, by making sacrifices and by committing each day to rugby. From video sessions to gym sessions, training days to set plays, the life of a professional athlete takes passion, grit and determination.

In an extremely important few months for Irish rugby, Robbie, Graham and Kate spoke about their respective preparations for the World Cup. Pre-season camp for the Irish Rugby team started in Carton House on June 17th. The World Cup warm-up games commence in August. Meanwhile, Graham and Kate are building in their preparations for the World Cup. As Robbie and his teammates tog out for their first game, the Ross’s will be busy hosting events in their rugby club (KO for Ireland’s opener, vs Scotland, is at 8:45am).

That ended our day with Robbie, The Ross’s, and Midland Warriors. Thanks to all who took part in the content capture day.

As the Official Retailer Partner for Irish Rugby, here’s hoping Robbie and Co. bring home the Webb Ellis trophy this Autumn. Shop Irish Rugby HERE.

It’s Our Time, Own It

Intersport Elverys #OwnIt campaign aims to shine a light on women and celebrates women in sport. There’s never been a more inspiring time for women to take centre stage and recognise their potential.

We’re proud to share the story of women in sport – first hand – through the voices and experiences of female athletes themselves. We believe sport and exercise fuels positivity and can make a huge difference to women’s lives. Here at Intersport Elverys we’re ingrained in Irish women’s sport through our partnerships with Irish women’s teams including the Irish 7s, Mayo LGFA and Dublin LGFA & Camogie, and we feel this gives us a great insight into women in sport!

Over the next few weeks we’ll be sharing the stories of some very well known women in Irish sport. Keep an eye out on our social channels for all the details.

Connacht launch refreshed logo and kit design as preparations begin for new season

The Connacht Rugby squad returned to training at The Sportsground on Thursday, to begin their preseason training programme for the upcoming season of Guinness PRO14 and Heineken Champions Cup rugby. Ahead of the exciting new season, Connacht have unveiled their 2019/20 Home Kit as well as a new logo design for the province.

The new logo strongly reflects the original provincial crest with evolutions of the core elements. The new logo sheds the rugby ball feature of old, providing much greater prominence and emphasis on the more traditional elements of the eagle and sword. The wing tips of the eagle have been reworked and consolidated to represent each of the five counties of the province with the arm strengthened and holding the sword upright, denoting ambition. Some minor changes to the font have also been introduced.

The logo was unveiled at the launch of the 2019/20 Connacht home kit. The kit is manufactured by BLK Sport Ireland and includes their exclusive Exotek four way stretch fabric, clean cut collar, and fluro green detailing incorporated in the sleeve cuff and neck.

Commenting on the new design, CEO of Connacht Rugby, Willie Ruane said: “As an organisation we are continuously looking to evolve and improve everything we do. Throughout that evolution however it is important we always remember where we are from and who it is that we represent. Our new logo design aims to reflect that evolution whilst also placing much greater prominence on the extremely strong core elements of the original Connacht Provincial crest. The beginning of the new season and the return of PRO14 and Champions Cup rugby to the Sportsground provides a fitting opportunity to unveil our refreshed design and to continue with our evolution and progression both on and off the pitch”.

At the launch of the new Connacht Rugby kit, Bruce Wood, Head of Brand at BLK Sport Ireland added: “It’s a very exciting time to be a part of Connacht Rugby with their return to Champions Cup rugby. There is an infectious ambition on and off the field in Connacht and we are proud to work closely with Connacht Rugby management to create a home kit to match this excitement and ambition”.

The new Connacht Home Jersey features Elverys.ie branding and will be available for pre-sale from 12pm on Friday 5th of July. Commenting on the continued title sponsorship, Intersport Elverys Director of Buying & Marketing Loman Caulfield explained the renewed focus on the Intersport Elverys website as a key link with the Connacht Rugby brand:

‘’Connacht Rugby have a significant national and international presence and we believe this sponsorship will help increase awareness of our online presence among a
