The story behind the Move Your Mood Campaign

As the clocks go back and the darkness draws in that bit earlier people of all ages often find their energy levels decrease which in turn affects their mood, their activity levels & their diet. The nights are now getting longer, and the mornings are getting darker. Here in Ireland there has been little research done on the subject but research carried out by the Weather Channel and YouGov (2014) in the UK found that 57% of people claimed their mood worsened during the winter in comparison to the summer months, with 66% saying that this lead to them feeling less active and more fatigued in the winter months.
The purpose of the Move Your Mood Campaign is to create an awareness for people, children & teenagers on the importance of keeping themselves & their families active & to highlight the positive effect it can have on their mental health – especially during the winter months.
