Get, Set. Run! Bundee and Philly | Running Q&A

As athletes committed to their craft, running wouldn’t be Bundee Aki and Philly McMahon primary sport but we sat down with them when they raced off, to get an insight into their running regimen when they do hit the road. This campaign is all about there being a run in #allofus so it was interesting to hear these two stars insight, as everyone has different ways of approaching running.

Favorite place to run?

Bundee

I would go for a run around the prom in Salthill.

Philly

Phoenix Park would be my favorite spot to run.

Run with others or on your own?

Bundee

Really depends, I sometimes go for a run on my own to zone out a bit or if I want someone to push me that bit harder, I’d gather a few people.

Philly

Mixed, sometimes if I need someone to set the pass I go with a partner but I like going on my own as well, bringing my dog sometimes, running around after him helps.

Go to music while running?

Bundee

I like a bit of everything, love Rap and RnB though if I was to choose.

Philly

Mixture, but mainly house.

Go to meal before running?

Bundee

I think for me I don’t really need to eat before a run. Always trying to lose weight so I feel it’s best to have a fasted run.

Philly

No set meal but probably something that has carbs like pasta, rice or potatoes with some source of protein maybe chicken or fish.

Do you use Wearable Tech?

Bundee

On the pitch we do, GSP tracking our workout but if it’s just a run and building a sweat I wouldn’t use one.

Philly

Yes I’d wear a GPS to track my distance and how fast i’m going covering that distance.

How do you stay motivated and any advise on how to stay motivated?

Bundee

For myself personally, I just know there is potentially a spot up for grabs that people are going for so that always motivates me to keep fit and keep running. For anyone finding it difficult, try to find that motivation that makes it worth it and keeps you going.

Philly

When you have a goal to get your jersey for the team that motivates you enough to do your extra bits and get your distance covered. I would say to people to find that goal in fitness you want acheive and work towards that bit by bit.
