IRISH INTERNATIONAL SIGNS AS INTERSPORT ELVERYS’ BRAND AMBASSADOR

Intersport Elverys are delighted to announce Rianna Jarrett as their Brand Ambassador. Rianna is a key player for the Republic of Ireland international team and has recently signed for English Women’s Super League team, Brighton & Hove Albion from Wexford Youths. During her time with Wexford Youths, she won the Women’s National League, FAI Women’s Senior Cup and Women’s National League Cup. Rianna has represented Ireland at youth level since 2009 and was part of the Ireland Women’s Under-17 team who finished as UEFA European Championship runner-up in 2010 and reached the quarter-finals of the FIFA Women’s Under-17 World Cup. Rianna made her Senior International debut in 2016. She has 10 senior Ireland caps and 1 goal (scored in 2019 at home to Ukraine). She won Women’s National League Player of the Year in 2018 & 2019, and was also the Golden Boot winner for finishing as top goal scorer last year.

The importance of fitness training for all sports participants continues to grow significantly and training has almost become a sport in its own right. In recent months, working out at home has proven the most versatile way to keep athletes moving forward.

Commenting on Intersport Elverys new brand ambassador, Anne-Marie Hanly, said:

“We are very excited to work with Rianna and believe that she is a great role model and inspires others to train harder, to be at their best. This association further emphasizes Intersport Elverys as a destination for people who love to train – at home or at the gym as well as those who train for their sport.”

Speaking at the launch, Rianna Jarret said:

“Playing professional football is a dream come true, and I’m fortunate enough to be one of the lucky ones being able to train and play in a professional environment. I’d like to think that, seeing where I’ve come from, I can hopefully inspire other young people on how rewarding training and sport can be, both mentally and physically. I’m excited to work with Intersport Elverys, who are at the heart of sport. I’ll be working with them alongside their other sponsored teams and athletes across other sports as well as having access to the latest products to support me – both on and off the pitch.”

The campaign, What It Takes – which launches next week and features in-depth interviews with Rianna and Bundee Aki among others, aims to inspire and educate athletes of all ages and at all levels about the hard work that leads to success on game day. Intersport Elverys & Irish Youth Foundation Charity Partnership

Intersport Elverys and the Irish Youth Foundation (IYF) has committed to leveling the playing field for young people born into disadvantage and their peers, by closing the dangerous gulf between poverty and opportunity and is today announcing a six figure Charity Partnership and awareness campaign.

The funds raised through the €5 donation from every Irish Rugby jersey sold and through player and fan support, were channeled directly to proven and effective youth organisations on the frontline around Ireland and will positively impact 8,000 children. It will directly support evidence based and dynamic programmes that deliver measurable results.

Research shows that the majority of youth workers and professionals believe that the prospects for Ireland’s most vulnerable children and young people have greatly worsened as a result of Covid-19, exacerbated with the inevitability of a tough follow-on recession. Many see the pandemic as the worst crisis for Ireland’s most vulnerable young people.

In a survey of over 700 youth groups, after-school clubs and sports clubs across the country, 50% of youth workers and professionals say that the pandemic’s long-term impact on the physical and mental health of young people is a major concern. Nearly 47% say that falling behind with studies and exam stress is the biggest issue, and over 21% are worried that young people may not get back into education or a normal routine. These stark concerns are mirrored by young people themselves

Lucy Masterson, CEO of the IYF said “We are extremely concerned from this snapshot that the effects of the Covid-19 lockdown has seriously damaged the lives and prospects of the country’s most marginalised young. The stakes are as high as they could be for many young people. Their education prospects hang in the balance. Their wellbeing and mental health has taken a battering. As the country rebuilds, no child’s future should hang in the balance because of this virus or a lack of support. If our children aren’t rebuilt, the country isn’t either. The gift of INTERSPORT Elverys visionary support could not have come at a better time for these children.”

Anne-Marie Hanly, Marketing Manager said the company’s aim is “to make a real difference by tapping into the power of sport and through the involvement of players and fans, and the association of the INTERSPORT Elverys brand, to help raise awareness as well as vital funds for the activities supported by the Irish Youth Foundation.”

INTERSPORT Elverys will look to support the charity with a six-figure donation as well as a schedule of rights and support to help raise more money, to fund more projects, to help more young people. For more information on the Irish Youth Foundation, visit www.iyf.ie.
