Sarah Rowe | #OWNIT

It’s Our Time, Own It, aims to shine a light on Irish women and women in sport. To inspire, motivate and encourage women to take centre stage and recognise their potential. Intersport Elverys have teamed up with top Irish athletes to get an insight into how their hard work and sacrifice translates to their respective sports. This is brought to life through series with talents like footballer Sarah Rowe.

Sarah plays for Mayo Ladies and has been a key player for them over the years. Sarah is still at the start of her career but has been a prominent star in the LGFA season after season. She was apart of the 2017 All Ireland Senior Football Final where Mayo faced Dublin in a game that recorded the highest women’s GAA attendance with 46,286 and recorded the highest TV viewership with 303,800 in a women’s GAA match. They were unfortunate to lose the final but the stats were representative of a step in the right direction for women in sport. Mayo and Sarah will also look to right those wrongs in this years All Ireland Senior Ladies Football championship after their impressive recent win over Donegal sees them through to the Quarter Finals, where they will play Armagh.

Intersport Elverys are a proud sponsor of Mayo Ladies, so it was a pleasure for us to work with one of the players on the team and to be able to share her story.

Outside of GAA Sarah played on the Irish Soccer team at underage level and recently had a stint playing in the Australian Football League last year where she won the best first year player award. Whatever the sport Sarah plays we at Intersport Elverys will continue to follow her and are excited to see her #OWNIT on and off the pitch.
