The Rugby Year Ahead

With rugby behind us for 2019, all roads lead to 2020 and there is so much to look forward to. Connacht Rugby are having somewhat of a resurgent campaign back in the European Champions Cup, the Irish rugby team are beginning to rebuild under the guidance of Andy Farrell and have their sights set on the 6 nations and the Summer tour, while the Irish Rugby 7’s teams are also improving all the time and both are competing in the World Rugby Series. 2020 is shaping up to be a cracker!

Connacht Rugby

The year 2019 has been a very good one for Connacht rugby and as Official Title Sponsors, everyone here at Intersport Elverys are delighted to see. A fantastic run in the PRO14 last year seen the team qualify for the Champions Cup, where they have been very competitive. Some fantastic club form also seen Bundee Aki and Jack Carty travel to Japan with the Irish Rugby team to take part in the Rugby World Cup. 2019 also seen hugely exciting plans to redevelop the Sports Grounds in Galway, which breaths fresh optimism for the future. Here at Intersport Elverys we have a wide range of Connacht Rugby gear, something for all the family. Take a look in-store or online HERE.

Irish Rugby

2019 was a mixed year for Irish Rugby. The Rugby World Cup journey came to a premature ending against the mighty All Blacks at the Quarter Final stage, in which was ultimately Joe Schmidt’s final game, after years of unparalleled success. We’ve not doubt Andy Farrell will build on this success. He has already named his training squad for 2020, and he will no doubt be looking to implement his style on this team during the Six Nations and the Summer Tour in Australia as he builds for the future. Check out our great Irish Rugby range in-store or online HERE.

Sevens Rugby

The Sevens teams are going from strength to strength, with both teams now on the World Rugby Series stage, which can only be a good thing going forward for the game. As title sponsors of both the men’s and women’s team sevens teams, Intersport Elverys are delighted to see this progress and long may it continue. The men’s team will also have one last chance to qualify for the 2020 Olympics, when they take part in a qualifying tournament during the Summer. Here at Intersport Elverys, we’d like to wish both teams the best of luck for 2020. As title sponsor, we have the official Irish Rugby Sevens jersey on sale. Check it out HERE.

World Rugby

The year after a World Cup is usually a year of rebuilding and building for the future. The All Blacks will be looking to the future under the stewardship of new head coach Ian Foster and will have one eye on the 2023 World Cup. After capturing their 3rd World Cup, South Africa will be happy enough to keep their process going and build on their success under former Munster man Rassie Erasmus and prepare for the Visit of the British and Irish Lions in 2021. Australia will be preparing for the visit of Ireland during the summer, which could be a cracking series. At Intersport Elverys, we’ve a fantastic range of rugby jerseys from all over the World. Check then out HERE.
